Message from Instructor
Taliko Tuladhar, Faculty
First off, congratulations on completing your coursework at ATI College! While you
have successfully completed the modules to equip yourself for a career in ultrasound,
the studying does not stop there. Here are some recommendations that I have for
students completing their hours in an acute clinical setting:
- Never stop studying! In an acute clinical setting, you will see a variety of
pathology. It is important to review your schoolwork to help you recognize
different abnormalities you see on an ultrasound. - Never give up! Throughout your externship, you will be scanning some
challenging exams. However, you will have the support of your sonography
leads who are successful in their field. We encourage our externship students
to ask questions and network with healthcare professionals to learn how to be prepared for a career in the medical field. - Teamwork! I encourage students to help each other. As technicians, we often
require multiple sets of hands during our exams and procedures. Therefore, it is
important to learn how to communicate and work with your peers to complete
tasks. - Show up on time! It’s extremely important to show up on time for your clinical externship ready to get to work!
Alumni’s Testimony
Lucia Cortez, 2019 graduates
I have nothing but good things to say about ATI College. The staff was extremely supportive and made sure we all met our marks and graduated. I have recommended this school to various people I know. Great environment to learn and grow as a professional Echocardiogram Technician.
Externship
Adam Jacobo, Externship Coordinator
When going to externship, it’s good to use your resources. If you have a family member, friend, neighbor in the field who would be willing to host your externship, start asking long before your externship is due to start. Keep them informed on when your externship is due to start and make sure you put them in communication with the externship coordinator so that the proper paperwork can be done.
When looking for a job, make sure your resume is simple yet current and that you include a cover letter pointing out your skills set, confidence, and how you could be a key component in the company’s success. Most importantly, you should apply every day to as many jobs as possible. The more times you apply, the more likely you are to get an opportunity to interview and eventually land a job.
