Message from Instructor
Olivia Pouanga, Faculty
As an alumnus of ATI College, I was able to gain a well-esteemed skill upon which I was able to build my career.
I cherished my ATI experience as a student, I loved my instructors, they were all well educated in the field each
with sufficient years of experience in the field I was pursuing so I felt confident they could direct me on my new
endeavor. My first piece of advice would be to SCAN SCAN SCAN!!! ATI College is fortunate enough to be so equipped with multiple machines on campus. You will always hear Mary and I say
you can take your books home, but you can’t take a machine home! It really is an opportunity you won’t find anywhere else guys…take advantage of it and scan as much as possible. Scanning every day multiple body types and seeing pathology and variants is building muscle memory in your brain that would take years in the field to develop. You have this opportunity to build as a student. Scanning every day also builds accuracy & timely scanning habits. These traits are essential in Ultrasound life.
The second piece of advice: take your SPI exam ASAP! It’s your first hurdle to getting registered as
a licensed Diagnostic Sonographer. I was fortunate enough to take this exam twice lol. The second time I passed I
used a study site called “Ultrasound Registry Review ” This site I believe made all the difference. It has mock-timed exams that
I found it to be MOST similar to actual exams in comparison to all the material I have ever used. This website is definitely my favorite to study
from and prepare for future exams I plan on taking and CMEs
My next piece of advice would be to sign up for the bachelor’s program! Having a bachelor’s is NOT required in
the Ultrasound profession, although It automatically qualifies you to sit for your ARDMS. In addition, it will heighten your Resume as
a fresh Ultrasound graduate along with your ARDMS.
These are exciting times for you all. You are all here pursuing a greater future and I commend you for all your hard work and dedication!
ATI College has an awesome staff and we are always ready to assist you in any way we can to help you pursue a greater future. Keep striving for greatness and a better future.
“Great things come from hard work and perseverance. No excuses.” -Kobe Bryant
Wish you all the Best,
Olivia Pouanga
Alumni’s Testimony
Marlene Ramirez, 2021 graduates
I graduated from ATI College in April 2021. I finished my Bachelor of Science in Diagnostic Sonography with Concentration in Healthcare Administration. I was able to get a job with my degree. It helped me grow within the company and got into a higher-paying position.
The instructors at ATI are very knowledgeable and aim for your success. You just have to position yourself to learn and study the curriculum. Dr. Taliko, Dr. Mary, Dr. Magdi, and Dr. Tareq all helped me be successful and were available for me when I needed extra help. I am thankful for them all. The administration faculty is also great. Julie was very helpful and available when I had questions. I also made good friends that I still keep in touch with today. I had a great experience attending ATI college.
Top 7 Benefits of Choosing Sonography as a Career Option in the Healthcare Sector
Sonographers are professionals who use imaging equipment to capture images of the body and then interpret these images to provide information about a patient’s health. They may also be called diagnostic medical sonographers, ultrasound technologists, or diagnostic medical imaging technicians. Sonographers can work in many different fields like hospitals, clinics, outpatient centers, and medical laboratories.
There is an ever-growing need for trained sonographers these days. Thanks to the rising importance of technology in healthcare. Many hospitals are only capable of doing diagnostics tests like x-rays with the help of sonographers due to their specialization in machines that produce high-quality internal imagery.
Their skills also allow them to manage emergencies and work with other professionals on potentially life-saving procedures such as emergency cesarean sections, where every second counts.
The following is a list of the benefits of choosing sonography as a profession:
1. The Demand for Sonographers Is Always on the Rise
If you are looking for a high-demand career, consider becoming a sonographer. As the healthcare industry continues to shift towards providing more preventative care, people live longer than ever. Sonographers are responsible for imaging many parts of the body, including the heart and arteries, which are highly susceptible to disease. According to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, demand for sonographers is expected to expand by 24% by 2022, making this one of the fastest-growing job opportunities in healthcare.
A sonograph careers program can take about a year or two to complete and usually involve classroom time and hands-on practice on cadavers. After finishing your training program, you will be able to apply for certification through groups such as ARDMS (American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography). After completing certification requirements, there are many opportunities within the healthcare sector in hospitals, medical offices, and clinics. Sonographers can also choose a specialization in different areas of interest, such as cardiology or vascular ultrasound.
